Default Let's pretend I have $300-500 to replace my fairing speakers and add an amp.

What would YOU do? I've read JL Audio, Polk (MM651) and a few others are worth checking out. Mainly anything above Hogtunes, from what I've read. I'm mainly thinking 6.5", but I have no real audio knowledge so to speak.

I need to know exactly what two speakers and amp, and why. Links or prices would be even better, but I plan to research in depth.

2012 Street Glide, by the way. Thanks!

My first recommendation would be to start the in depth research, there is a ton to read here alone. Some of the first things you'll need to decide, if you haven't already, and let us know is what any future expansion plans you might have would be and if you want to keep your FM reception. Of the couple of options you listed the MM651 speakers don't get recommended very often anymore. They did and were great speakers. Polk changed the glue used to attach the tweeter stalks and now they have a reputation for failing.

I am the new sales rep form J&M... please consider the following PoS... just click on the link provided

Seriously - stay away from the Polks - I had the meltdown "as well". they will still function in a car with max 15-20 W thrown at them but that's it...

Best bang for the buck with keeping your FM radio reception for sure:
Infinity Kappa's 62.11i speakers ~ 100 bucks amazon...
RF PBR300x2 amp - not sure but I believe you can find them for about 160
you will need a 10AWG powerline set (~20-30 bucks)
you need speaker adapter rings - 22 bucks ebay (these work fine - sold by easternperformance http://www.ebay.com/itm/SPEAKER-ADAP...8ad518&vxp=mtr

now - your sound WILL improve if you change your stock headunit out for a sony/kenwood/pioneer/jvc. together with f.e. the Metra 99-9600 and the ASWC-1 (see sticky ~ 80 bucks together), you would be looking at:
100+160+25+22+80+headunit (~150 ish) - 500-550usd

if you do not care about FM, PA RZ2000-4D amp (110) or the sister/brother of it, the SS PN4.520 (~110) would be an alternative (4 channels! if you do not use them, who cares). there is a SS PN2.350 out there too (2 channel amp which will give 175W at 2 ohm, compared to 130W on the PN4.520)... 115 on amazon. that should keep you under 500.

Aftermarket HU, make sure your pre-outs are 4V, not 2V (4V or higher is better).

Yeah I read about the tweeter failures. I think I found an old thread, but it seemed that even with the failures, people felt they were the best sound quality. I'm gonna keep looking, starting with the FAQ. Thanks!

Wow, thank you. That's exactly the type of response I was going for. I'm gonna check those parts out - if I'm willing to ditch AM/FM, would that be ideal over trying to keep it and work it into the setup?

I have a UCLEAR with Bluetooth to my phone. I use it with Pandora, to talk to my wife (also has a headset), or answer calls (rarely). I have no issues using it, but if I can blast music from the fairing down the freeway, I'm all about it!
