Default Sony MEX-M70BT output impedance?? just output w/o amp

I plan to run my rear pods with the HU's power cause my 4 amp'd channels are up front. I am doing this successfully now with my HK HU @2ohms. Did tons of searching and can't find If 2 ohm speakers are Ok for the Sony? Is this published anyplace or anyone done so? Thanks for any knowledge.

Kris, I did a search with [sony radio car impendance] and first pages showing up are sony... they mention impendance 4-8 ohm. So I doubt if it is save to run 2 ohm speakers off the HU... low volume will be "fine" but once you are going to blast, mmmmm not so (too much heat).

Oh no . . Not that again! It's a hot topic Kris and a couple schools of thought. Some guys will tell you it's ok and others will tell you it's not. If I remember correctly the best solution was to call the vendor. (Sony) The specs on your HU say this:
  • Continuous Power Output: 17 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
  • Peak Power Output: 55 watts x 4-channels (220 total watts)
Conventional wisdom tells me if you ran 2 ohm speakers your CPO would be 34 RMS X 4 channels. But I'm not sure how that would affect the HU. (If at all) I honestly don't know. This is one for NUTZ. above my pay grade. . . lol That's my .02 Sir.
