I can only speak for Shotgun air rides. You will need to remove one side and let them swing down out of the way.

It depends on the brand of air ride. Shotgun is pretty simple. Platinum is teh only system I know of that requires nothing to do but drop the bolt. However for the extra 10 min to drop one side of the shotgun shock it's not a big deal. The Shotgun system is far more thought through than the Platinum although they both operate similarly. If you have questions ask me.

The Hi Lo can be done without removing anfything, but you need to put the rear wheel on a 2x4 and slam the system to allow room to get to the drain plug.

on 2000 and up sofrail the trans drain plug is located on bottom of trans housing and is obstructed b shotgunshock body. On 99 and previous softails the drain plug is on the side plate of trans and access to drain plug is easy.

The shotgunshock will swing down to a 90 degree angle with the frame by removing the hardware from the front of the shock. Pic shows a 2000 style shotgunshock after the front hardware is removed and shock moved into position for draining of trans fluid. Location of Shotgunshock on 2000 and up HD softail

Since that is really difficult to read, remove the two 3/4" bolts and the shock will pivot out of the way of the transmission drain plug. I am getting ready for my first tranny oil change since putting the shotgun on here any day now. I'll take some pics and psot a how to for you guys as well.
