New Recall / 0186 Center Cooled Regulator

RCL:MY24 CENTER-COOLED REGULTR
RECALL DATE: 2023-09-15
THE REGULATOR OUTPUT WIRE (RED WIRE) MAY RUB ON THE FRONT CORNER OF THE CRANKCASE. OVER TIME, THE WIRE INSULATION MAY WEAR, EXPOSING THE WIRE AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING A SHORT TO GROUND.
REMEDY
THE RECALL REPAIR WILL INCLUDE INSPECTION OF THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR OUTPUT WIRE HARNESS AND INSTALLATION OF A SECONDARY RETENTION STRAP. ALL VEHICLES WILL HAVE A SECONDARY RETENTION STRAP INSTALLED TO ENSURE PROPER WIRE ROUTING. IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT THAT DAMAGE TO THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR OUTPUT HARNESS IS FOUND, A RECALL KIT CONSISTING OF A WIRE HARNESS EXTENSION WILL BE INSTALLED TO REPLACE THE DAMAGED WIRING HARNESS PRIOR TO THE INSTALLATION OF THE SECONDARY RETENTION STRAP. OWNERS OF AFFECTED MOTORCYCLES WILL BE ADVISED TO ARRANGE SERVICE WITH AN AUTHORIZED HARLEY-DAVIDSON DEALER, WHO WILL PERFORM THE REMEDY AT NO CHARGE TO THE CUSTOMER.

Here's the official recall document for dealers complete with pics (attached PDF).
Here are some of the pictures from that document for reference:
#1 is the voltage regulator connector. This wire going down along the frame is the one that gets damaged.
Here's a picture of the voltage regulator connector (#1 from the previous pic). Arrow points to the damage-prone area. DAMAGE TO THE WIRE CAN STILL OCCUR WITHOUT DAMAGING THE WIRE LOOM
Pulling the wire loom back, you can see the damage to the voltage regulator wiring.
The prevention: a cable tie! Add a cable tie around the voltage regulator wiring and coolant pump harness:
If you have damage already and they perform the service, you'll get this new connector and it'll have a retain clip like this:

I've been told the hardware 'kits' will start shipping 10/14...so until then either DIY inspection or have dealership perform one and if any concerns to address as best as one can until the HD solutions are available

I crawled under my bike to look but it was all black caked road grime underneath from 15,000 miles so aborted the inspection
