I would never buy anything over MSRP. I never have and never will. That's a fleecing right there.

The HD theft protection is "micro-dot paint". Pretty cool, actually. They put dabs of florescent paint on all parts of the bike that contains micro dots with your VIN on them. The florescent paint is used by law enforcement to find the dabs, then they use a microscope to view the dots to retrieve the VIN. Ties any parts stolen from your bike back to you.

$999? Steep.

This "service" was on a 2022 Fat Boy that I was purchasing new. Reading through the sales contract, there was a specific statement saying that the customer was not required to pay for this feature. I pointed that out to the "guy I write my check to" (finance person), and moved on with the negotiation. It pays to read EVERYTHING you are signing.

It was included on my Breakout and I did not pay extra for it.

Laidlaw's Harley-Davidson (in Los Angeles) states the following on their website:

"All our motorcycles SHOW THE PRICE. That's because we don't have an "ADM" or Added Dealer Mark up, where you don't get anything for your extra money spent over MSRP. There are manufacturer fees and state fees that are not included in the price such as Surcharge, Freight, Sales Tax, and Registration. All our new motorcycles are equipped with Harley-Davidson's Appearance Protection and Theft Protection ($1,499)."

I paid MSRP plus taxes and doc fees. The bike had a tour pack and docking hardware and I was able to still get the bike at MSRP. So the tour pack and docking thrown in. The tour pack had a manufacture sticker from late 2023 so it may have been something a customer cancelled after purchasing. Doesn’t matter to me though. They also included the 1,000 mile service at no charge.
Did I pay too much, yes. But I was happy with my deal.
I have five dealerships owned by four different owners within a 30 or so mile radius of my house. Plenty of competition between dealers.

Checking with several other California dealers with good reputations, I've received at least one offer for $2,550 below MSRP and no ADM or "dealer prep fees".

What's the best discount you've seen off MSRP for a 2024 Road Glide?

you're starting to find dealers willing to sell between Invoice and MSRP so keep doing what you're doing until you find one you like and if you are really serious about wanting one, buy one, ride it, enjoy it and stop with the whole analysis paralysis thing .. riding time and fun is wasting away here at this point

There you go. Jump on it, and start laying down some miles.
