Every bike I've bought was a bad financial decision. If the 10% overmarket is foolish, then market price was about 9X as foolish. I'm all in on saving money on a purchase, but let's not think buying a new bike is a smart money move.

Would you pay more than MSRP for a new Road Glide? NO
Market adjustment = Pure dealer profit. HD Theft Protection I've never heard of that but it sounds like something car dealers try and add in for more profit for them.
Keep riding what you got till you get a deal you can live with.

Would I? No. This Market Adjustment BS is out of control, for sure. I just went through this recently on my new truck.

It just depends on how bad you really want it! Everything for sale is worth exactly what you are willing to pay, as long you can live with yourself after the sale.

Delete theft protection and market adjustment. Just tell them you are not going to pay those items or you'll buy from another dealer. I read where Laidlaw Harley in Baldwin Park , (LA county), is not charging additional market adjustment and no extra fees. Call them, it would be worth the trip.

Go to Laidlaw’s. They’re MSRP at least. That’s the worst you should pay. They aren’t fetching more than MSRP anywhere, or shouldn’t be at least.

That's pure greed and profit (if people are willing to pay it). It's not 2021 anymore, this dealership needs a reality check.

If blatantly lying about those things (claiming the security system is a mandatory upgrade, and such a large upcharge I mean) to set a basis for initial price, God only knows what other little surprises they'll spring on you in the Finance "Manager's" office. Run, don't walk, away from that used car lot-like dealer!

They will sell for the price the market will bear....With good timing and a little luck its possible to pick up a bike for a lot less than MSRP, just have to research and do your homework, it will save you thousands.
