On my 2024 the cable is rather short, it is sticking out from behind the front of the left side cover and hangs close to the primary. That's how it was when I bought it. No ill effects so far.
You can move the cable around to where ever you'd like...pop the left side cover off, completely...there should be enough slack inside to have it exit upper, rear corner, if you wish...
When I bought my bike, they said to buy the 5 amp Battery Tender instead of using my 1 amp one.
They did not try to sell me one.
My 23 came with the 1 amp tender and works well and keep the bike charged but I noticed when tuning with the SE tuner the tuner will sometimes give me a low battery warning ( when i'm tuning and connected to the 1 amp tender ) so I wonder if that larger 5 amp may help when tuning? I also noticed the 5 amp version has a "repair mode for AGM batteries" when the smaller 1 amp I own does not. i'm not exactly sure what repair mode is and if I would ever need or use that but with the larger amps for not much more money if I was buying a tender I think I would buy the 5 amp version. However, I like the compact size of the 1 amp tender as its not much larger than cell phone chargers were just a few years back, perfect size for my bags when traveling over night. I think I have room in my life and garage for both the 1 amp and 5 amp tenders.
I may try and suggest that to the wife that a 5 amp tender is a perfect Christmas gift to me :-)
My 2014 and 2017 already had a Battery Tender connector in the OEM harness and I am pretty sure all new models have one. Check HD SIP for more information...
