Black parts longevity (Black Chrome)

I have a blacked 23 Heritage, it shows rag whirls and such to an incredible degree. Some things far more than others, like the light housings. Kinda seems like all the paint is softer than the paint on my older 04 RK.
I don't like the look of the plastic protector films, but on my blacked Heritage, I'm starting to see the wisdom of using it. I may well be installing some film on the fork tubes, and maybe the tank and front fender.

I’ve always had chrome and I still like chrome. I used to love polishing every bit of chrome on my 19 SG and making it glow. I went with black this time, I just think with the more modern style bike the black fits better. Black looks great and Harley has done black trim for a long time.
I would imagine the longevity isn’t going to be as good as chrome since it can’t be polished down. But I won’t keep the bike long enough for it to matter.

I'm looking at a Whiskey Fire Road Glide. Initially wanted the chrome package as I have always been a chrome guy. After looking at the same bike with the black package, it has really grown on me (except for the $1500 price increase). I have had pieces on my bikes before that were powder coated gloss black. They all held up fairly well but did scratch. What are you guys finding that have bikes with the black option as far a scratching, holding up etc? This goes for 24's as well as earlier. I know the forks take a hit as several friends have commented on chipping. Forks for me aren't a factor as I always run chrome forks and cow bells as I like the look and contrast.

I got my first blacked out bike this year, and it is awesome looking. But I can already see that black is not as durable as chrome. For instance the rider footboards are black and I can already see the black is showing a scuffed look on the edge where apparently the sole of my boot makes contact with it. I have never noticed this with chrome footboards.
