Thinking about powder coating but I'm sure it will chip. Anodized may be the best bet.

 

I ordered the skid plate the minute I read the original post on 6/12/24. AND speaking of anodized paint, I also ordered a can of the Dupli-Color Metalcast Anodized Automotive Paint from Amazon on the same day. This paint will definitely serve the purpose.

I ordered one on 6/13 and it was supposed to ship yesterday. Have you heard anything on your order?

 

If you view your order, the ESTIMATED ship date is 6/25, however, if you go to their website, the next shipment date is 7/5.

 

Anodizing is not a painting process. Not sure if you're aware, just an FYI.

 

Yes, I am aware of that, thank you. If they had the plate in black, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Presently, it is only available in the Silver aluminum. The next best thing is a can of this paint which is more durable than a regular enamel. If I find someone local in my area that can do the process the right way, its only 3 bolts and off it goes.

 

I am thinking the same thing. Might just take mine to get anodized before I install. I'd take the 1.5 hr. ride to Dallas if I need to. Something this small can't be more than $50. It's more prep work than anything. They'll need to make sure it's super clean, no oily residue (including fingerprints), etc.

 

Type 3 hard coat is what I typically use on my other projects.
