Clutch Jam Nut

Clutch Jam Nut
While performing routing maintenance on my Heritage yesterday I ditched the thin jam nut on the clutch adjuster inside the primary in favor of a regular nut (grade 8). Now I can get a much better grip on the nut with either a socket or an offset wrench.
7/16-20 if you want to swap yours out too.

I read this the other day... And was like OK? Then yesterday find that my jam nut came off, and I had to open my case to get it. I tightened it down with the case off... But now I may have a problem getting it off. Torque spec on it is just 10 ft/lbs so basically nothing... But after all that... Duh, put a thicker nut on it.
I have to drain my oil again and put what I want in which I didn't have on hand. I am going to make sure my adjustment is good... And yes, I'm swapping out the stupid nut. Thanks.

same thing happened to me, lost my clutch one day to find my jam nut missing. it was sitting in the bottom of the primary. i did the same thing as the OP and used a standard width grade 8 nut. havent had a problem since. i wonder if some softails didnt get torqued properly off the line.
