You need to get old like me, and enjoy an M-8 for what it is.
I run stock mufflers these days because I travel on it.
Do you want to show? or go?
An M-8 will never sound like a knuckle, flatty, shovel, evo, or twincam.
Quit trying to make it sound like that.
I’ve had three M-8’s in the past four years. I run a stock 114, and wouldn’t change a thing.

I'm 70 in Feb, do I qualify?
And I want both - show AND go.
I've spent enough money buying the bike - I won't be spending a lot more on it.
I just was a little disappointed with the sound - but, if it will never sound like the early Harleys then I'll have to get used to it.

People talk about the great sound of an Evo. I owned two. A new FXRS I bought new in 1985, and a 1995 Road king I chased for a year, two years ago.
I ran drag pipes on that 1985, and you know what I didn’t like about it?
It didn’t sound like a shovel.
Maybe with a cam it would have sounded better, but it ran too good to screw with.
But the ride of that new rubber glide five speed evo was light years ahead of a stock 4 speed shovel.
Trade offs.

I'm sure it does sound like a Harley, be it a NEW Harley...
Seriously its not gonna sound like a EVO same as my EVO didn't sound like a Shovelhead when I purchased her new, I even tried drag pipes but was a no go with little back pressure so I went with V&H Straight Shots, A EV-27 cam and turned that idle screw down on my S&S carb and it would cam and lobe and I ended up with a killer sounding bike IMO but was not a Shovelhead.
With my new M8 I added a SE torque cam, removed the stock head pipe replacing it with a bassani and Rinehart dbx 45 exhaust. Does it sound like my EVO... No but I like it!
A cam does wonders IMO,,,

As a Sound tech I feel the same way about Eddie Van Halen guitar tone from the mid to late 70's to sadly when he passed, his tone changed with the times...
Be it a Harley, or Van Halen or a V8, it all sounds Fantastic IMO... Now don't get me started about the sound of a V6...
