Low Rider ST: DISAPPOINTED!

And this is what happens when an iconic american motorcycle company who built their empire on core products of cruisers and tourers try to convert their steel framed hogs into sportbikes.
In 2019 (IIRC) I went to the HD dealership to test ride a FXDR thinking HD finally made a coolazz sportbike. I mean it looked cool and all but I can't recall ever swinging my leg over a bike so ergonomically retarded until I sat on a breakout a couple years later and didn't even bother going for the test ride. Both were utter abortions.
From what I've seen? Outside of the flat-track arena HD should avoid anything that includes the term "Sport" in it.
And that's the lecture I would give to my designing engineers if I were tasked with being the new CEO with firm instructions to focus on improving the company's core products.

Hd nailed it back then and one upped themselves with the fxlrs!
or maybe Hd realizes that anybody of average height and build such as myself (6’ 190lbs) will realize how simple it is to put different seat (Hd tall boy seat) that puts your knees level with your hips.6.5 pull back risers that are installed with factory wires and cables. Very common mods to any motorcycle.

I don't want my knees above or even level with my hips on a FXLRS(T). I love the look/style of the bike, I just think the riding position is unfixable for what it was meant to be. Higher seats, forwards, pullbacks, risers, defeat the purpose of what I thought was a sport oriented 45-degree V-Twin. I'm not out to disparage the bike, I own one.

I've been a sportbike guy all my life so that said? When I think "Sport" and the bike I bought has mid (aka "standard") foot controls amd bars I hafta reach for? I'm dang sure not moving the foot controls even more forward and the bars rearward amd as a matter of fact I'm moving the foot control rearward hence the sportbike term "rearsets" to stretch my legs out not in front of my hips but behind them (which is why back in the day you'd see jap bike riders lofting their feet back upon the passenger footpegs) and my bars are going forward and low to bot put more of my upper body weight over that critical front tire contact patch and to keep my upper body from acting as an airbrake in the wind.
Also, Responsive handling has as much to do with pressuring the footpegs with bodyweight as it does countersteering and you just don't see a whole lot of fast riders running technical courses with their feet on highway pegs.
Just some thoughts from an old jap sportbike guy who by the grace of God managed to survive himself and finally slowed down and got comfy on a Harley.

Finally took one for a test ride today like others after reading so many reviews and YouTube videos I wanted to buy into the hype with a smaller cruiser than a road glide .
Like eveybody you have to swap out half the parts to make it a proper cruiser , I was disappointed in the fairing quality and ride quality .
kind of reminds me of the street road glide st and a partial attempt to make the bike something it’s not .

This thread like all threads about a newer models are always the same. “Harley misses this or that”. “I would not own one if they gave it to me for free”. “Takes too many mods to make it rideable” etc.
I don’t think I have ever seen a stock bike as it was delivered Harley (or really and brand of bike) as most people immediately tear down and make it their own. Heck I’ve seen dozen of FB posts of guys tearing into the 117 to go 121, 131 cams, etc.
I think the only thing Harley did wrong on the LRST is use the word “Sport”. Seems the word “Sport” is controversial and then it gets combined with “Bike” and the LRST is not a “Sports Bike”. It’s barely a Sports Touring Bike if you look at other bikes in that category.
Had they called if “Low Rider Touring” or Low Rider Mini Bagger” or even “Road Glide Light” they may have eliminated the comparison.
Like every Harley model I’ve seen, it’s a good base platform, for customization and personal fitment.
