I'm so sorry to hear about your harrowing brush with disappointment. It must have been crushing. I would urge you to seek help for what seems to be untreated PTSD. The year plus since must have been very difficult. I hope you can find a way to carry on.

"Point of Sale?"

"Positively Outstanding Service"?

What's that got to do with this intellectual discussion?

Geez, calm down Durham girl. You're taking this way too seriously. You get offended too easily. By the way, "honor" and "integrity" are TWO words.

Stop the personal attacks.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, good and bad. And, everyone is free to express them.

But the name calling and insulting is over the line.

As a LRST owner, I think Tmac is partially correct in that "The ST is not great as sold". I drove 400+ miles each way to pick mine up. There were none in my area to test ride. I read every article on the internet about the GREAT ST and thought "this is my next Harley". Got the bike home took her for a test ride and after coming back I thought "What the hell did I do". In Stock form the seat is to low, the bars are to low and way to forward, and what is up with those mid pegs being so high up!

So began the changes:
- Saddleman seat raised me up 3/4".
- Crossthread Mini Floorboards gave my legs a bit more room to stretch and reduced knee bend.
- Thrashin 6.5" pullback risers allowed my T-Rex arms to reach the controls. (Going to 8" to gain a bit more height)
- Clearview and Klockwerks prevented the wind from ripping off my head at freeway speeds.

4 changes transformed the bike for me so much so, I think she is a keeper! Harley touted the bike as a Sport Touring bike right out of the box. That is not the case for most of us. The vast majority of us LRST owners have made several mods to make the bike rideable. Like most Harleys they need changes and those changes cost money. Is that extra money worth it for you? Only you can decide. I have yet to sit on any Harley that I could say "I could ride this stock without changes"

Sooooo I think Tmac is correct in "As sold it sucks", but since he doesn't own one he has yet to experience an ST "As sold then modified to fit each rider", which for me now fits me nearly perfect and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Blatant post of my ladies:

Maybe this is a more appropriate post “stock Harleys suck”?

I haven’t owned any that I didn’t change the air cleaner, pipes, seat, bars, risers, gizmos, and dodads……to make it my own and especially fit my goofy short in seam and long torso. 😜

Brilliant post, and so true.

However, there IS actually one gorgeous, comfortable and powerful Harley Davidson that can be sat on, bought and ridden into the sun-filled and thrilling future - bone stock without a single change. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the best all-around Harley Davidson there is now and has ever been:

THE HERITAGE!

Except it's not an ST and offers me nothing. There is nothing about a Heritage that appeals to me... Yes it is a softail so there is that, but the styling is a zero for me. If I was going to go the route of grandpa Harley with bags and touring pack, I would have got a road glide.

If my only argument is styling and ergos/fit for me... Then who gives a crap? I should just buy what I like... Which I did... An ST... The best selling softail since it's introduction. How this is still going more than a year later is beyond me. You got the one that you like best... Move on. Get over it. There are a lot of Harleys I didn't buy, I don't feel the need to discuss them. I like riding the one I got.
