I had a pair of these for a year before I lost them somewhere.
They were fantastic. I have a pair of MotoSafe versions and dont bother with those, they're not as good and they're super annoying to put in your ears properly.
I also use standard 10~20$ music wired earbuds when I need navigation with my phone. And I use the biggest ear tips that will fit and seal into my ears. I did a lot of testing and the largest ones you can fit into your ears will dampen the most noise.
Holy **** - this model alone has 3 different attenuation inserts - I suppose use the highest. Alpine also offers all sorts of others - PartyPro, etc. Too many choices! I guess I'll just get what you got.

I leave my phone in my windshield pouch. Need eyes full time on roads around here (big city xurbs) with bad drivers. So I need what you got.

I am in your and other's debt

I just used the high filters, I got the 27$ set.
I'm still looking for eartips that will be better at filtering out sound than the ones I have now for my earbuds.
Word of very strong warning here though.
DO NOT use Wireless earbuds under your helmet. They fulcrum against your ears and because of the weight of the battery and internals and casing, they will vibrate inside your ears without breaking loose. This means they will pound against your ear drums and cause more harm than good.
Only ever use wired earbuds that are light. Heavier monitors or any others that mount in your ears that are too heavy will pound on your ear drums. Little plastic ones from philips or sony are the ones I use.
Usually 11~15$ on amazon.

I have them on my 2018 Softail Deluxe ( FLDE ). Also running the S&S mini teardrop air cleaner. Happy with the sound and performance. Several positive compliments from other riders and a neighbor.

I wear either earplugs, or Bluetooth safety earplugs. With the Bluetooth you can listen to music, I have the SirusXM for the truck, and the free app on my phone to use on the MC. If I am running Maps, the music is muted when directions come over it. Its recharged on a cell phone charger, and 25DB NR rating.

Isn't that kind of dangerous to have music earplugs while driving? Can't hear sirens, horns, etc.? Just wondering.

I fired the bike yesterday and it sounds perfect - like an old time Softail. I can highly recommend S&S Grand National. Pipe finish is top notch quality too.

I was just like you when I bought my 21 new - I fired it up and thought "this isn't a Harley". Lots of reading found over-regulating the emissions (exhaust and noise) was what forced them to over-civilize. I think they went too far, at least with sound. Their sound target is a "not-to-exceed" dBa pressure threshold at a specified distance under ANY engine operating condition. The bike might sound reasonable under wide open throttle from stop, but then it is whisper-quiet the rest of the time. Not acceptable to me.

As for exhaust emissions, I stayed with cats just because I remember the old days when engines stunk, and I probably breathed in too much of that **** over a lifetime. And it still sounds great.

Hope this helps.
There isn't an M8 on the planet that sounds like an Evo Softail; I don't care what exhaust you put on it.

My trump card may have been the EVO Sporty 1200s.

Now that I said that... I can hear Iron Head/Shovel Head types in my head chiming in telling us all we are FOS.

I wouldn't be too sure about that , I heard an M8 up in Grand Prairie, Ab , sounded like a " real " Harley , potato, potato, potato.

He had installed a 2 into 1 exhaust it was a short pipe ( un coated , goldish in colour ) , a big cam .

This bike was VERY loud , and sounded great , it had the old school sound , loud , and choppy .
