You misrepresented a product that you don't even own. That's why I referred to your statement as BS. But, I wholeheartedly agree with you in one respect, I am also sorry you posted here.
Have a great day now!

Looks like the car version of FOBO (Tire 2) uses a receiver that talks to the app, the FOBO Bike 2 does not. It's just the caps and they talk to the app. The bike 2 also offers a setup that includes the 2 metal T valve stems ...if needed

1: Are all your FOBO caps on metal stemmed valves?

2: How long have your oldest cap’s been in service?

Yes all are on short metal valves since they are in the box when you buy a set of Fobobike 2, except on my Street Bob since that one have innertubes with rubber valves.

My first set would be on my GL for 3 years now and replaced the battery once, think I should check because normally they last a bit more then a year, the app shows the voltage left in the battery.

It's the convenience, if you only have 1 bike, for example, it doesn't matter much and you check the tire pressure manually. Nowadays I have the habit of checking the app and choosing the bike on
which I don't have to inflate tires at that moment . But I understand what you mean, I myself have not been driving for 52 years but 40 years this year.

Even a subject as simple as TPMS can cause heated debate. Lol
I wanted to get the Fobo system but also read the "use metal valve stems" warning. I'm wondering it those failures were on much longer rubber valves stems??

Not knocking the idea but my car has the TPMS device inside the wheel so it can't be stolen. Easy to see on cars that have a bolted in metal valve and not a rubber one.

have a set of FOBO for my bike that I will never install. The FOBO app requires access to the phone location and communication. It reports tracking information for whatever usage they desire. I thought I'd be able to use a phone I have that the Bluetooth still work on. But FOBO requires an active phone, according to their instructions.

So no TPMS for me on the bike.

On aliexpress you will find this complete with digital reading or with the app, which shows you from Ebay, you cannot use it on a bike with an app, these are for a car. My new SGS also has them internally,
it is indeed much better, but for now I think the Fobo's are sufficient on the other ones so that they remain as long as they are not stolen .

Well you find something new everyday. It is actually a legal requirement across Europe that all cars sold since 2014 have to have TPMS and it has to work when the car is inspected. I have a feeling it is to do with the use of run flat tyres.
