Default 12" Ape Hanger Install - FXBR Breakout

Hi All

I ordered all the parts in order to install the Ape Hangers on my 2018 Breakout (Upper Clutch Cable, Upper Brake Line, Brake Line Adapter & all Wire Extensions). My only concern is that my bike has ABS. I have been reading that in order to have the upper brake line installed, I would need to either have HD or a shop program the ABS Module. Is this true? I do not want to install everything and be stuck at the end when changing the line and not be able to ride the bike anywhere. I have already read and watched YouTube videos that as long as the module does not get air in it I should be fine with just bleeding the line.

If this is really the case, I may just take it somewhere have them install the line prior to installing the bars and components myself. I called one shop near home and the tech told me that if he doesn't do the entire bar install, he will not just do the line he said.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Did the install this weekend and everything went well. Reverse bled the new front brake line and worked out well. The brake lever is nice and tight after leaving it over night squeezed.

Thanks to all the great advice on here!

Love a Breakout with tall bars. Let's see a pic!
Glad the install went well.

I'm 5'6" so didn't want to go too tall and not be able to reach lol
instead of running the wiring for the mini LED turn signals that I previously had, I installed some fork LED ones and made my life easier
Debating on a Siouxciide Sissy Bar next to match the thick Bars...

but here she is.

I was able to extend the line on my abs fat bob without issues. I did have the fluid flushed shortly after (it was due for service).

@nelsonhood I believe they are from Wings Custom-Front King Clean Rhino (But got them second hand from someone since they changed them and gave me a good price) - 2" thick but 1.25" at the clamp. They are in excellent shape too.

@supernac The OEM one I had on my breakout was too short. Before changing it I measured it with the Bars mounted and it didn't reach even after moving the banjo and unclipping it from the body. I will be having the fluid flush (F & R) very soon. It's a 2018 and bought it in 2021 so I'm sure it is due for a flush. Did you flush it yourself or took it somewhere? Been watching YouTube videos and seems easy and straight forward but not sure if I want to tackle it myself just yet.
