The El Diablo is a great exhaust. It will support a 140+whp 131 with a small dip in tip in tq. It sounds great too, not too loud. Price is great as well. I don't see what the big deal is on the plastic tappet cuffs? GM LS engines use a similar design, made of plastic that last for a couple hundred thousand miles. Mopar Gen3+ Hemis do as well. Could be those engines run cooler inside than the Harley, but their only purpose is to keep the lifters from rotating sideways on the cam. I mean, I can see them being a "while you're in there" item, but is it really an absolute necessity?
That "dip" is one of the things that is holding me back.
Another one is that it might be too...quiet 🤭.
Aesthetics was main factor - I simply love those barrels on the FXFBS.
But I've made a mistake and went too far with mods that make sense with 2-1 only. Silly me.
If you don't mind me asking: how the cuffs landed here? 🧐

When I bought my cam I talked to fuel moto about my Bassani. The guy I talked to said he was running a Bassani on his softail. He said it’s not the best or the worst . He then said if I wanted more from a pipe to go with something like the d&d fat cat. He never suggested any other short pipe not even there own riot pipe. I could go with a better shorty pipe but the gain would not be worth the swap. Fuel moto even said when there riot pipe came out that all the shorter 2into1’s including their riot will have the dip but unlike the heavy touring bikes the softail recovers quickly. That’s the way I see it.

I'm getting that Cobra - the final numbers better be good 🧐

Check out Shadetree Surgeon on YT. They're doing a giveaway LRS with the El Diablo exhaust and a hopped up 131. It's still way over 110ft lbs @ 2k rpm and jumps up to 150ish by 4k or so iirc. I had it on my Fatbob and absolutely loved it, not too loud and obnoxious or quiet. How a Harley should sound from the get-go. D&D Fatcat is also another good pipe for these bikes, I just prefer the look of the Cobra better, as well as the price being great too.

Also, the tappet cuff thing was in response to another person who was talking about the cam swap with oil pump etc. I'd definitely swap the pump for either S&S or Feuling along with cam bearing. Lifters sure, but what's the big deal w/the cuffs? As I said, they're extremely simar in function and matl as the lifter buckets in GM V8s as well as Gen 3+ Hemi. They go 100s of thousands of miles, no issues.
