Streetbob 114 drive belt tension?
Hello everyone I have a quick question regarding the belt tension on my bike. I’m about to do my own service on it and I am unsure on what part of the belt do you line up with the markings on the guard? My manual says it needs to be between 1/2” and 9/16” with 10lbs of pressure applied. I’m just not sure if you line up the bottom of the belt or the top part? Any help would be great thank!

Thanks for the picture! I’m waiting for the tool to be shipped so I can apply the 10lbs of pressure and see where the deflection is at. I did how ever just quickly check where the belt sits at (with the weight on the wheel) and the rounded part of the belt is at 3/4”. I think this belt is way to tight, just from trying to twist it and it’s extremely tight. I also noticed my back wheel hub seems to get way hotter then my front one after a good ride. I think whoever the dealership had to set this bike up did not do the belt correctly or made it way to tight thinking it would stretch out?

Get something that weighs ten pounds and lift it with your finger to get a feel for ten pounds of force. Now push on the belt and get an idea where you are at.
A brand new belt will loose a little tension in the first few hundred miles.
Twisting on the belt is not a valid check for anything.

Ok I will do that, the manuals are so vague on how to adjust and check the belt properly. Now I understand, if the belt doesn’t move at all with the pressure added that means it’s to tight, so you keep loosing it off till you get movement while that 10lbs of pressure is applied. Once it moves within that 1/2-9/16 area I’m good to go?👍🏻
