Sport Glide thoughts? Thinking of buying
#22
Got 13k miles on my 2018 (bought new in 2019). Love this bike. My wife has a 2019 Deluxe and, while it is nice, I love the ride and feel of the Sport Glide so much more. Next mods will be breather, tuner, cam. Mods so far:
- Gustafson 15" vented windshield and lower deflectors
- Corbin solo seat/backrest (sucks getting old)
- Cyclesmith's 14" Lane Splitter bars, Magnum Shielding cables, Performance machine grips
- Tab performance slip on exhaust
- Kuryakn front LED DRL/Turn signals (not pictured)

When my father passed away I promised myself I would get a new Harley out the inheritance money as something I can keep, I went in the showroom to buy a street bob, sat down with the dealer and told him what I wanted to do with it so he guided me over to the Sport glide, I think they had only just started to import them into the UK.
Apart from the leaking pushrods (which was fixed) and the damned misting up of the clock its absolutely perfect for me, and it looked completely different when you take off the fairing and boxes, which are both handy to have on the bike for a long journey. I can't really fault it other than listed.
For the money you do get a lot, sure you can get a Harley with more bells and whistles, but everything works as it should on the sport glide, luckily I managed to get an American assembled bike before Harley started importing them into the UK from Thailand, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it, they can stick the Thai bikes up their...........

I agree with most everyone... best handing HD I ever owned... but I wouldn't try to turn it into a touring bike like many have done.
If you are an old guy like me you rode miles and miles with a no face shield helmet and bubble sun glass protectors. As I got older I came across a good deal on a HD Police model and traded in my Nightrain for it... ARRRRHHHHH... but I wasn't permanently located long enough to try and store 2 bikes in a garage with 2 cars.
All I have done to mine is put a 13" windscreen on it for ~$130 and started using my full face helmet. The 'buffeting' is just motorcycle riding to me. My durability was much better on the Roadking however and this only furthers my argument that if you aren't a young pup you need at least 2 bikes to be happy for your favorite riding... the Roadking was perfect for the interstate but terrible amongst the crazies on the streets and for parking lots.
p.s. 2 compound mix custom ear plugs (hunting goods) are a really big help to save your ears from the continual wind noise.
