SE air cleaner kit
Ok... my wife dislikes the stock air cleaner housing on her new 21 standard and wants to go with the SE Ventilator air cleaner. The directions state: “You must recalibrate the ECM when installing this kit. Failure to properly recalibrate the ECM can result in severe engine damage. (00399b)”. Seriously??? Is that even needed with no other modifications to a stock 21 standard?

If you plan to keep your warranty intact and keep the powertrain stock, just have the dealer install the air filter and flash the ECM with the proper tune. No need to buy a tuner. Tuning files for H-D components are developed at the factory and the bike will run well.

Interesting cause this thread below and data from DK Customs seems to disagree?

I decided not do exhaust after doing air cleaner as I could tell that it would definitely need a tuner because it greatly increased throttle response.
There is a video on youtube by "Travelling Tall" where he goes to Zippers and discusses this with the gentlemen who designed the 468 cam.
The conclusion is any upgrade requires a tune to get the best out of it.
