I think they wanted to put some value space between the standard and the street bob. I think they are going to sell a ton of these bad boys. I think at last check, my local dealership had 14 on preorder shortly after the event. I think they deserve a bit of credit, this looks like a homerun for Harley.

My guess is next year, touring will get a displacement bump and all the softails (that make the cut) will have 114s.

I routinely get 50 mpg on my stock 2020 Ultra Limited with the 114. So figure from there. It is fast enough, especially with the hydro clutch since the engagement point is in the correct spot, just tap and shift. It is not as fast as a goldwing or BMW, but I have never been merging or passing and needed more power. Can be cruising at 70, WOT and pass a semi at over 90. Stock harley pipes sound great and are a joy of long rides. A hydro upgrade would be my first mod to get the most out of the motor.

I am not sure how I feel after buying a street bob in October. I have only put 100 miles on her so far.

No doubt the 114 will be great, but not a fan of the new colour and that number 1 on the tank, I bought a new 2019 in the denium grey and love the colour.

I am sure later this year once I have done some miles I will go have a test ride and see what the difference is really like.

What stage would be equal to a 114 performance?

Still has the **** single disc front end on it though which is disappointing, things like that make the FXLRS so much more attractive. I have the single disc front end on my 114 FXLR and it's woeful.

The dual disc is better, but not much. Heavy bikes = momentum.

But then, light bikes = plastic!

Having twice the surface area to dissipate the heat generated by converting that momentum is welcome when you're trying to make that heavy bike change direction quickly.

Heat reduction from the extra disc will help reduce any brake fade, but not sure anyone has complained about experiencing that? I haven't, with some spirited riding on twisty roads. Two discs will require more effort to change direction, you've increased the weight of the wheel and the gyroscopic effect from that extra mass of the second rotating disc is greater. Whether it has any noticeable effect in the real world, dunno. But won't improve agility.

e.g. I've never tried carbon fibre wheels, but their purpose is to reduce unsprung weight to improve the speed of steering response and front suspension performance.
