Because they spent 10 years learning that no one wanted them. 82-92, it was the bike you could buy leftover and the Harley that depreciated the most, even more than the Tour Glide. When dealers took them in trade, they removed the faring to make them into a regular Low Rider in order to sell them.
Times sure have changed.

Started some initial fit-up testing today. Looks like I will need some 2" riser extensions to get the bars to clear the fairing. I got riser extensions, longer brake line, longer clutch cable, and extension wires on order. For reference, I have the Harley 6" pull-back risers on currently.

The good so far: the paint is spectacular. Color is a perfect match as far as I can tell the and the paint quality on both the fairing and the mounting hardware are on par with Harley factory paint.

The not-so-good so far: I've ran into a few fitment issues. The brackets that hug the spine (front gas tank mount hole) had too much paint in the 3/8" holes and I had to ream them out. Then the same brackets' mounting bosses wouldn't fit inside the frame holes so I had to turn down the OD a bit (hand ground with Dremel). One of the front mounting holes (under the headlight) didn't line up very good and had to be opened up a bit. My Adaptive Headlight won't fit in the headlight bucket because the heat sink is too big. But...I grabbed my original OEM headlight and it also wouldn't fit because of the heat sink.

Temporary fit-up test...

Details on headlight bucket...

The area outlined in white is the area I will need to cut out to clear the heat sink...

Adaptive Headlight (LEFT) vs stock headlight (RIGHT)

Even with the stock Sport Glide LED headlight, the light was about 1/4" from setting all the way down onto the headlight ring. This was with the headlight adjusters backed out all the way.

If the headlight doesn't set down all the way into the mounting ring, the headlight cover won't fit on.

Give me a gallon of fiberglass some fiberglass matting and some Bondo . And a week or two to reduce the size , but still retain the same look and it wouldn’t look like it’s a elephants head mounted on the front of the bike .

I tried to get ahold of Imzz Elite about the headlight bucket depth via email and phone the past couple of days. No reply by email and all phone calls go unanswered with a "voice mailbox is full" reply.

I guess its Dremel Tool time. I've got no issue making modifications for an aftermarket light (although my opinion is that if it fits in the OEM headlight bucket, it should fit in the fairing). But the fact that even my stock light won't fit really sucks. Its an expensive item to have so many fitment issues. I've seen several pictures of Sport Glides with FXRT fairing using (what appears to be) the OEM 7" LED light. I wonder if others are having fitment issues?

Oh well...the show must go on.
