Default Sport Glide rattle?

The fairing of my Sport Glide rattles when I ride over uneven terrain. I’m pretty sure it is seated correctly. Can’t figure out which spot creates the problem, so I cannot fix it. Has anyone encountered and identified it? Thanks!

Not sure on the sport glide....on the heritage with the removable windshield i keep the bolts snug on the quick detachable hardware.
Not really quick detach because i have to loosen the bolts first.
If it rattles on a ruff road something is loose. Keep tightening you will find it.

There are 7 bolts that hold the fairing together and 2 bolts for the windscreen. Maybe a loose or missing bolt? A missing bolt would have the clip nut rattling inside.

Look for the windshield touching the clutch cable while riding at speed.

It could be your gas cap? There are several threads on this forum about gas cap rattles.

Good point. I had to smack my gas cap ring with a hammer and screwdriver.

On a Sport Glide it is also possible the fairing is bouncing at the point where it rests on the lower tree. I put thick black tape at that point and it stopped the rattle and the rub mark.

Not a dumb question! I’m dumb for assuming it was the fairing. Rode without it today and the rattle is still there. Doesn’t seem to be the gas cap either; I rode while holding it down and the noise was still there. The search continues......
