I had the rocker covers and arms off because I was putting in a cam and I do not like adjustable push rods.

I actually have question related to drivetrain noise. I truly believe there is nothing wrong with my bike (1000 miles on it all stock) but when I ride I hear quiet ticking which make me believe this is lifter/pushrod noise. I never rode any other M8 so I am not sure this is normal or not. I will always expect some lifters and pushrod noise due to old school design as we know HD for years. I am not really concerned about it as all seems to work ok - just curious. Stock exhaust dont help as well as all is quiet as hell so thats probably only reason I can even hear it and it is really subtle quiet ticking in nice rhythmic cycles which would expect from properly operating engine with pushrods and lifters. Thought I would get some opinions on this just in case. Needless to say I love this new ride what an improvement over TC.

I think you stated very well exactly what I think about the M8.

It's great that we do not have to buy a bike with a bunch of electronic gadgetry - I just use my smartphone. I have tried more GPS hardware and software than I can remember and I've finally settled on a smartphone based system. I use MyRoute-app for route planning and navigation. It is amazing and works great for navigation on the bike when combined with a Bluetooth headset. I use the online route planner software on a PC. Complex route planning is much more productive on a large screen. They have an auto route planning feature called "roundtour" that works well.

Below is a shot of the tracklog from the route I planned for my ride today. If the route needs changes before the next ride, the tracklog really helps out. I have a few thousand miles of routed rides on back rural county roads. I could never find my way to the best roads without a tool like MyRoute-app. It incudes all the major map databases (gold version) and the satellite views. I can zoom in and see if the road is gravel or paved.

My phone is held in a Quad Lock case and mount. I'm using their knuckle adaptor.

The Bluetooth head set is built into my M1 Pro helmet. It uses a Sena based plug-in communication module, the SC1M. The wireless remote control is on the console.

Normal. Air cooled motors give off a lot of mechanical noise through the cooling fins.

Hello Hulkss,
Thank you for the information about tires and handling.
I used to ride Evolution engined softails and the 150 was the biggest rear tire size at the time.
I had to roll a couple fenders to fit and not tear up the wiring for signals and taillight. Haha.
Thank you,
Lboy06.

My windshield is a 21" black gradient tint from Memphis Shades #MEP6461. This shield is a slightly different shape than stock. I like the look of the shape and the gradient tint.
As posted by Uncle G. new inner and outer cross braces p/n's 58428-94 and 58431-94 are required for it to fit.

Mounted to the windshield is an H-D windshield bag p/n 58308-95. Handy to have for little stuff that you go for often.

To help reduce the updraft behind the windshield I'm using fork wind deflectors from Jess Custom Accents. I installed them inside of the windshield mounts. They do make a significant improvement in comfort. Seems we have bugs here in Wisconsin.

Along with the H-D Mustache Engine Guard, I have a set of Desert Dawgs which are great for very cold or rainy weather. They snap on and off easily, work great, and take up very little space when packed on the bike. I ride late into the fall season and these keep my feet warm with normal boots and sox.

The quest for a decent heel-toe shifter and footboard took more parts than expected. This solution is based on a suggestion by jamtero to use Kuryakyn spacers p/n 7508. This allows the rear lever to be moved to the inside just clearing the primary cover. The front lever is on the outside more inline with your foot.

The stock footboards curve in at the front and my foot points to the outside at the front. To fix that I put on the footboards from a Deluxe, p/n's 50500634 & 50500635.

Now add the H-D heel shifter kit, also available in black. Damn, the shift levers are too short and my foot is not positioned properly on the footboard.

New extended levers from Softbrake =.5" in the front and + 1.5" in the back.

Add some nice light weight shifter pegs that do not take up space from Bung King.

And, replace that lame shift linkage with one from Landmark. Finished at last!
