Does FUEL PAK (FP3) and AIR INTAKE change the exhaust/engine sound & feeling?
Hi,
I recently change the stock exhaust with V&H slip-on (slash cut), and the bike sounds happy.
As the next step, I’m considering V&H Air Intake and FuelPak. Probably V&H Rogue or VO2 Intake with FP3 (parts no. 66005)
My question is, does Open air intake and Fuelpak(different fuel map) change exhaust sound?
(For 18+ M8 engine Softtail)
I search a bit, and the answers seem very.
Some said NO, and slip-on sound will be the same since these will only increase the efficiency.
Some said YES, exhaust note and the engine vibration(especially during idle) will change so as feeling. Most case, no popping sound, deeper notes and more uneven engine feelings are mentioned.
I’d def go for deeper tone and lower temp.
I like popping sound somehow during decel so I might want this to stay though.
What’s your experience?
Thank you.

The short answer is the sound and feel can change depending on what you do with the FP3. You can change timing to get a lope in the idle, you can change decel pop, you can change the throttle response, you can stop lean surge if present, and you may get more intake noise depending on the air cleaner design.

My understanding was FP3’s goal is to increase the efficiency - not sure how this process affect the sound and feeling.

Thank you, I thought that with FP3, I can only choose certain PreSet values. Since I already have v&h exhaust and I plan to have v&h air intake, I expect that the outcome is pretty much predictable.
