Just the way they are, they all do it due to the weight distribution in the engine.

If you search other threads around the same age as this one you will find plenty of comments on similar issues, people adding weights to one side of the bike etc. to try and fix. None really solve the issue.

They are hard on tires, especially on the right. I just live with it because I love the bike.

If I remember correctly these tires have a V or a Z speed rating. About 6000 miles is good mileage out of these tires as the V and Z rated tires are made from a really soft compound. The more aggressive you ride them the 6000 miles gets less and less.

I have a 2020 Fatboy, the Anniversary version.

I replaced the front tire at 7,200 miles due to wear, that was primarily on the right side.

I did read somewhere that using a higher PSI solves a bit of this issue. So instead of setting the front PSI to 36, I raised it to 38 PSI.

On my new set of tires, same OEM brand, I have about 5,000 miles on it (12,000 on the Odometer), and have noted only a little wear on the front tire, so maybe the higher PSI works.

I am running the front at 40 and the rear at 42 and they ride/handle fine - time will tell about the wear. I recently sold a Road Glide with a 180 fatty front and the guy I bought it from told me about running it at 40 and it helped with turn-in, etc., and my Fat Boy is the same.

hmm…. Good to know. Maybe I’ll try 40 in front as well.

About the wear on the right side, I´ve seen several post about it, but none have convince me about the real problem and how to solve it. But what really concern me is about the front brake vibration. So the tire wear is a cause of something and seems that other components are having excessive wear as well..

I have zero vibration on my 2020, and tire wear is even albeit I just have 800 miles on it. I got it in July of this year thus the low miles, along with a couple other rides that share pavement time.

Let us know what you find out.

I was pretty convinced that the wear was due to a combination of a few factors: offset tires, weight distribution, and road inclination. But that’s just a guess.

The OEM Scorcher is a piece of crap and the fronts just wear fast - that’s the issue. Mine was dead in 3,900 miles - that was 7 months of casual, daily riding. I replaced them both with the Metzeler Cruisetecs and they were significantly better. When I traded the bike at 6,700 miles, they still looked very good.

Unfortunately, the 160/60-18 is an oddball size and nobody makes a front other than the Michelin Scorcher and the Metzeler Cruisetec. Having no other options really pissed me off and was one of the reasons I got rid of my Fatboy.

My 2018 FB just turned 7,300 miles. I keep 36 in the front 42 in the rear. They look great, but I ride like a 60 year old man!
