My son wants t install 12 inch apes on his 2018 Slim. Has anyone done this and have pics? Did you have to install extended cables?

 

My wife put 12's on her Deluxe. She changed the risers, bushings and all cables.

 

I put 12 inch Wild One Outlawz on my 19 Slim and had to replace the clutch and brake line. The new cables make this much easier because you only have to replace the upper portion. My dealer did it as part of my purchase but if you’re going to have to pay for it, definitely do it yourself. No way of getting around this going from the stock Hollywood bar to a mini ape.

 

I also have a 2018 slim and installed 12in by 2in diameter Hell Bent bars. I did have to change cables.

 

what sissy bar is that? Looks like a decent height and Harley only has short ones as far as I could tell.

 

I put the mini apes from the Heritage on my Slim....
I used the stock upper cables off of the heritage....

It's the One Piece Tall-Rigid Mount Sissy Bar offered from Harley. I didn't like the looks of any of the quick detach low options from HD so I went with this. I had a quick detach sissy bar on my Dyna at about the same height as this rigid on the Slim and loved it and never took it off once, so I figured I'd be fine with a rigid one here. It's only four bolts into the fender struts anyways, takes five minutes if I ever really wanted to take it off but I love the looks and functionality so it's staying.
