Default Slim seat suggestions

So I've only done some in-town running around in the week and a half I've owned my '19 Slim. I've got a feeling I'll need to do something about the seat when I start doing longer day rides when spring really arrives. I had a '09 Crossbones with the tractor/spring seat and loved that one, especially the riding position. I can live with one that mounts on the frame like the original seat but would prefer a nice spring seat if possible. Thanks for your thoughts.

For solo I have the Saddlemen Renegade LS Stitch. Nice and firm and comfortable so far. Haven't done anything longer than about 100 miles yet but so far it's great. Two-up I have the H-D Sundowner, ugly seat for the Slim but comfortable for you and a passenger if you happen to have one. I've done 450~ miles at a time in that one. About 2 hours or so in need a break for my butt. Good thing that roughly coincides with my gas stops. On that particular trip I was solo because I didn't have the Saddlemen yet. A few on the forums have recommended sending the stock city out to Mean City for custom work, those that did reported great results. I may do that for the stock seat later down the road but for right now, the Saddlemen fits my solo needs. Motherroad customs is another I've heard about for spring seats

Saddlemen

There was a long thread on adapting the traditional "tractor seat" to the new Softail using the Harley-Davidson spring seat kit here. It involves making a new bracket to adapt the saddle to the different spring spacing of the spring mounting kit and enlarging the front hole in the pivot bracket.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/2018-...eat-mount.html

I liked it so much I'm currently doing this to my '19 Heritage.

Here's a picture of the seat bracket. I used a piece of steel from Home Depot 1/8 thick x 1 1/4 x 12 1/4. I drilled (4) 11/32 holes. the inner two are spaced at 8.437" and the outer two at 10.875".

The hole nearest the pivot must be enlarged to fit the 3/8 seat bolt (supplied with the saddle). I used a grinding bit in a Dremel tool.

The solo seat with the brackets and springs installed.

The solo seat installed on my '19 Heritage.

Another view. I still haven't installed the frame cover, and I'm not sure at this point if I will.

You used the seat Harley intended for that sprung solo seat kit. I had to adapt a seat they didn't intend for that kit, that's why I went into such detail (even though I didn't invent the idea-I borrowed it from forum member Mantruck1963).
