Idle Issue.

Idle Issue.
I have a 2018 Heritage 114 and have had this weird idle issue since new. It will idle high as I am coming to a stop and then settle down. I don't believe it's the EITMS that acts different than what I am experiencing. It hasn't really bothered me enough to be concerned about it till now. I just installed some V&H 300's and flashed a canned tune from Fuel Moto and it seems worse. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It's possible you still have clutch switch issue as experienced by folks with aftermarket levers described in this thread:

OR, check with Fuel Moto.

So the bike will idle high for a few seconds with the clutch out? Do you know why it does this? I did just install some Grab On grip covers a couple months ago which makes the grips bigger. I haven't ridden it that much since I put them on and I am sure that I am paying more attention since I just flashed that tune. I always start it in neutral but the other day at the gas station I didn't for some reason and it wouldn't start till I pulled the clutch in really hard and my immediate thought was the foam grip covers. Probably 90% of the time when sitting at lights I have the clutch in and in gear. If in fact it does idle high for a few seconds with the clutch out that could be it.
Thanks a lot

From the service manual:
with the engine warmed up
1. Start engine.
2. Increase rpm to 2500 rpm and bring engine back to idle.
now take your hand off the throttle grip
3. Turn IGN OFF.
4. Repeat previous steps a total of four times.
This process will help the controller learn throttle plate position.
Note: Anytime you shut your bike off and the throttle is not in its normal closed position you may cause the computer to screw up the idle speed.

I complained about this on my sport glide a few times and they were not able to fix it while the bike was in service. Finally i took it in just for this issue. They had the bike for over three weeks and the did a lot but no dice. A tech from Milwaukee came to see the bike. Still no resolution. Gave me a new bike and at first it seemed to not have the issue but after a week or so it returned. I know two guys that have the issue but they don’t seem too bothered by it. One guy that doesn’t have the issue has the auto tune. Might give that a try. It’s most annoying after a hard ride the cruzing in a parking lot. Revs up a lot that way.
