Default Spring seat mount

Bought an FLH style seat which wont direct mount to the spring location of the new spring seat kit. Fabricated a bracket. Hopefully it will work!

Spring mounts are a little over an inch inward of seat’s mount. Got some metal from the depot and measured the kit’s mounting. Should bolt right up.

Just a follow up on the mounting. The seat came with spacers from Harley, which I used under the bar I made. Without the spacers, the nut would not fit between the bottom of seat pan and bar. You might also need to cut the spring mounting bolt to your needed length depending on what thickness spacers you use.

For the pivot mount to the seat, I used the supplied Harley bolt, which is cut to hold itself in the slot of the seat bracket. This seat pivot arm will need to be drilled out to 3/8" for the Harley bolt. I also suggest using two bolts to mount the seat pivot arm to seat pan properly. The seat wants to pivot at the mounting location, even when tightened.

Test rode the bike and it feels great. It does not have the butt bolster so you will feel a little weird at first when you accelerate and your butt slides a bit back. All in all, I love the way it looks. It gives the bike more of a vintage look. Now onto the bar change - to Harleys black Hollywood bars.

Default More photos of seat mounted

The seat kit I ordered wasnt specifically made for my bike. I had to file the front mounting hole of the pan ("under seat cover #3") to get it to line up. Also, the back of the "under seat pan" touched the wiring harness to the taillights at the front of the rear fender. I cut two slits to each side where the pan hit the loom and bent the pan section between the cuts upward. Problem solved. The outer wings of this pan will also touch the inner frame arms for the fender mount. I used a towel to protect the metal and used my wide billed welding vise grip to bend the ears down. Problem solved.

You can see the spacers ( that came with the seat) under the flat bar I made. You need these so the nut will fit in between bar and seat pan.

The look I wanted for my bike. Shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to revert back to stock. Just label and keep the 6 bolts you took off from under the stock seat.

And another view

Done!

Where did you find the 52006-47B solo seat? I used to see them on eBay, J&P Cycle and even the MoCo, but they seem to be pretty scarce these days.
