Went to the dealer today, trying to find a 107 M8 with aftermarket slipons or exhaust, didnt find any. The salesman showed me a 114 with slipons which was loud, but its not the same as 107.
Are you guys happy with what you get from your after market slipons or full exhaust? I mean w/o any other mods?

I have a 107 Fat Bob with V&H slip-ons. I test rode a 114 with S&S. They are virtually identical in their deep almost inline 4 exhaust note. The 103 Dyna I had, was higher pitched, a little more traditional Harley sound. The M8 is a bit different, most of us find. I have tried my slip ons without the packing - they become a bit more old school in volume and pitch but the smooth and considerably impressive torque suffers a bit. The catalytic converter takes out quite a bit of the volume but I have to say, forget Harleys of old if you can, the new M8 with a correctly tuned slip on is a joy to behold. I have ridden many Japanese sports machines but this American jewel is sooooo fast.. Volume these days is often to do with gov testing. My Wide Glide with stage 1 SE II's was a noisy brute but my current FXFB 107 with the V&H Hi-Output slip one blows it away on handling and creamy power delivery. I love the older Hogs but the new incarnations are just different. It's by way of moving on. I would imagine open pipes with the correct tuner and breather could be awesome but for many an M8 with slip-ons could be near an ultimate motorcycle. Try one and see. Long live HD whatever you choose!
