Default 4 quarts not enough oil?

Hey everyone. Just changed my oil in my 114 fat bob. Put 4 quarts in ran the motor for 2 mins+ for the “hot” oil check. Dip stick was bone dry. Added about 10 more OZ. Still nothing on the dip stick have to go out and get another quart to see if i can get a reading. Any one else put over 4 quarts in. The bike hold 5 quart dry correct?

Never heard of this before but suggest you like very close here .. Take it for a good run as long as have don't have Low Pressure Oil and then liable to find out you have too much oil in it, when check it after a 20 miles ride ..

Refilling the oil filter will take half to 3/4th of a quart. What does the manual say is the oil capacity?

Did my 1000 mile Service on 2018 FLHCS in early Jan. 5 quarts of oil just like capacity says in manuals. Took a ride of about 10 miles and re-checked oil on jiffy. Just short of full. Cold check after a few days. Half way between add and full. No problem as far as I'm concerned.

Service manual (a handy thing to have when servicing your bike) says total oil capacity with filter is 5 qts. Change procedure is initial fill of 4qts. then fill to proper dipstick level.

I like half way on dipstick when hot. Keeps carryover through breathers to a minimum.
