Four quarts in a five quart system should still show on the dipstick. Something is very wrong.

Had my Slim 1000 mile oil changed at dealership.rode it home and checked oil, Dipstick said to add a quart. I called the dealer and the service mgr said ride for a day or two!
I took it down i-95 for about 30 miles and back.Checked oil again same reading.I added a half a quart of oil and went to the half full mark,Thats where i left it.Hope that doesn't hurt anything.

So here's the deal, as near as I can tell -- Harley supposedly tells the dealer tech (apparently) to put in four quarts to start. Dump out the old, pour in 4 new quarts. Then they're supposed to ride around, get the engine warm, and top it off.

Well apparently they don't. I've had three different oil changes where the oil was at the bottom of the stick. When asked about it, the tech freely admitted he forgot to top it off, and he offered me some free oil and that he'd do it right the next time. Well, two different techs have done this to me, and apparently to you as well.

Moral of the story is check the oil before leaving the dealership.

My experience was just the opposite after my 1000 mile service. After I got my bike home from the dealer I checked the level per the manual and it was 3/4” above the full mark.

Who knew changing oil could be so difficult.........

That's why I never let the dealer techs touch my bikes , unless it's a major warranty issue.

I have always done my on work, but I had a dealer throw in a service agreement on a new 07 Ultra I bought from them. It included the 1000, 5000, 10000 mile services for 2 or 3 years, I don't remember exactly. So I thought what the heck I'll give it a try. I only used it twice. Both times when I picked up the bike it had oil all over it and both times way too much oil and the tires way over filled, and I seriously doubt that did anything else. I never took it back.

Last time I changed the oil in my 18 Heritage it took 4 quarts and 28 ozs.
