Today, I had the SE/Ohlins suspension fitted to my Low Rider ST.

Sadly, the temp is about -1C here, and it was a very cold and somewhat slippery ride over to the dealership early this morning. But I got there and they fitted the suspension.

I would normally have done this myself, but they gave me a good discount on the labour (and the parts), so I had them do it. It took them about 5 hours, most of which was on the front end. I am quite pleased I had them do it as there as several special tools involved and I wouldn't have really felt comfortable doing the front end. Back end would have been easy enough.

Difficult to tell how much better it was on the short ride home as conditions were still poor and I didn't want to risk any fast stuff, but it certainly felt smoother over bumps.

I am taking the bike to an Ohlins suspension specialist next week to get it properly set up. I trust the HD dealership to install it correctly, but not really to get it set up to optimum, so with the low cost of a full professional suspension setup, I figure I may as well get it done properly.

Interested in hearing your thoughts over time - i have a russ wernimont eibach spring in my rear but held off on the front upgrade because there's just not that many people that upgraded their ST's front forks and wrote about it.

I have the SE Ohlins Rear and DK Intiminator+Progressive Springs in the front. I decided to not go with a fork kit in the front because it didnt seem to be necessary from stock. So I went with budget build for the front.
Rear wasn't bad either but I went from Stock to FOX Factory to SE Ohlins, each one feeling like an improvement. Sadly I cant give a full report on the ohlins just yet due to the accident.
Cant wait to get the bike back and get to testing it so I can do a review video of it.

I like the progressive brake dive they give. Unlike the stock setup, they dive slowly so when you trail brake into a corner they react predictably. When you brake hard in a straight line you dont get slammed forward and downward as the forks compress, instead it feels like a harder stop that's more in control.
It feels very predictably progressive, which is very nice. It also feels like there's more highspeed stability as well.
I've had the bike out to 120mph+ and it feels less wobbly. The trade off though is that the suspension reacts more to bumps and I will get speed wobble at high speed if I cross over raised division lines and the tire hits them, or those rumble strips they put into the HOV lane dividers. It's a bit freaky.
But overall it's more stable at high speed, which is great.
I know most people dont take a harley out to run high speed passes like I do, but I think people who do would like them as a budget upgrade for standard forks. The dive control is very nice.
Less passenger helmet bonks too.

It certainly feels better than the Sport Chief's front end that's for sure, and that's an inverted setup with KYB forks.

Thank you @FranBunnyFFXII !
Your input on what you do and have done to your bike is super valuable to me.
I'll probably never go as far as you do, but it's great guidance for future steps, even if smaller than yours.

:-) I'll give a full review once I have been able to ride a few thousand miles on it and take it on different road types. Sadly......winter!

Today I fitted an OEM Fat Boy/Breakout/Sport Glide rear shock (HD:54000112) to my FXFBS to lower the rear end.

Less than an hour, start to finish.

Before and afters...
