Diagnostics for me began when I was 23, and ended up being diagnosed finally in September 2016. It's one of the biggest reasons I'm on disability now.
It was a real turn the world upside down. But now days, Anytime I can make a time for a ride, I try to get out there.
I can't imagine what it is like to see your partner decline like that, but It sounds like yall have it managed well, which is great.

There's a laundry list of things I didnt mention because they weren't relevant to making someone feel better about their situation.
Also I bought my bike out of backpay. I saw the chance to accomplish a dream I had as a kid and decided it was well worth it, especially since owning a motorcycle here entitled me to free parking and I was in need of a vehicle, and I've known many people turn to motorcycles as a means to help them cope with mental health issues.
You buy a vehicle, and once it's paid off, there isn't much money it costs afterwards. Tabs, Tires, gas, maint costs. Not exactly prohibitively expensive.
Just because you can't see a disability, and you see a tiny snapshot of someone's good moments, doesn't mean the rest of the nightmare didn't happen or isn't still there.
You don't see the medical and psychiatric appointments I have to go too. You dont see the hospitalizations, or the bad days. I post positive and helpful things in this forum, not my life struggles on a daily basis.
It's better to ask, then to assume.

I'm already trying to shop for goodies for my daughter's first bike. Told the wife if I don't hurry they might not get here in time, there's only 15 more years until she can get her license!

That's because I'm not. I said "It's one of" the reasons. Not that it is the only reason.
