Very nice bike. It's pretty easy to take that chrome rear light bezel of and spray gloss black. Really sharpens up the look.

Did a few things:
- Finished new bars install. Went with T bars and really liking the look, but need to ride tomorrow. Thought I was done late last night and had a ride planned with a friend. Went to start it up and had no throttle. Luckily, the tbw connector popped loose, and it was not a broken wire, etc. Also had to add an adapter plate to pull bars back 2.5 inches to allow levers to clear windshield. The plate is for a Road Glide, so I had to grind the bushings down so they would clear the top triple tree. Also added Biltwell Kung Fu grips and cheap throttle sleeve. Love the feel just sitting on bike but need to ride to really get the a feel for new setup.
- Finally installed replacement tank from Surdyke and swapped out stock badges for the “1” badges I had on previous tank.
- Several months back, I had some oil leaks at the pushrods, and on longer rides, the hot oil baked in to a bunch of PC and painted parts on bike. At the time, I cleaned the bike when I got back from those rides, but could not get rid of the oil stains. Got out the rubbing compound after finishing tank and bars, and went over primary, rockers covers, lifter covers, tranny cover, cam cover and the two painted side covers. Oil stains are gone and all the parts are nice and shiny again. Little thing, but I feel good that the damage was not permanent.

Replaced the Stock Timing cover
Did not want the matching Derby or gas cover(s), other plans for those
Gotta love the Instructions - Time 1 hour
Remove Stock Timing cover & discard
After removing it I can see why, I have seen pie plates that are thicker
Surprised at how heavy the new piece is, I guess for $36 you have to get your $$ worth
Not a decent pick will need to get one in the sun
Makes the rest of the bike look dirty, time for a wash
Stock photo looks much better
But Fat Boy has the satin finish

Thanks a lot. That is the style I have been after - I know some will not understand doing it with a Heritage. My last bike was heavily customized, and while I loved the ride of the heritage and power of the 128”, I needed to change a few cosmetic things to make it more my style. The new T bars are 1.5” diameter, 14” tall, and an extra 1” tall with adapter plate. They are also very narrow - 25” wide. I really like the extra hot rod style they add to the bike. And while I like the stock badges, I love the “1” tank badges and the sporty attitude they add.
