Rode about 100 miles today spread over interstate, highways, twisty backroads, and rough backroads. The Heritage shock is excellent. There is more going on than just an extra inch of travel...the damping seems to be much better also. The chassis is better in every way...rough roads are smoother, turn in is better, lean angle is a little bit better (not much), even braking has less chassis movement. The bike glides over expansion joints in the interstate at 80 MPH. The bike handles corners great. I rode StRt 350 as hard as I did on my Super Tenere. All went well except one particular uphill switchback where I buried the right peg into the road. Scary...but manageable.
There are only two downsides to performing this upgrade:
1). There is a little more saddle height.
2). You'll be completely mad at Harley-Davidson for not shipping this shock with the bike.
I wonder how many folks have test rode both the Sport glide and Heritage, and picked the Heritage because it had better suspension?

Based on your comments, I picked up a used Heritage shock on eBay just now. If I may ask, what did you have to do to swap out the preload adjusters?

If nothing else it helps the rest of us in cold States to wait it out. I never get tired of looking at good looking bikes. Thanks for the help!

Moved to the dark side. Bought my Cherry a big sister to keep her company, a '19 Barracuda Silver Street Glide Special.
I had been contemplating putting Batwing Fairing on Cherry but just could not find what I was looking for, so I decided to buy a fairing with a bike already attached
