In my case the GPS is mounted in the center of the handlebar in a safe way and protected by the small windshield. The cables pass through rubber clamps (they were spare parts of my old Ducati) and connected all with the dedicated H-D wiring for accessories. No welding but, 2 very comfortable Posi-Seals that protect the electrical contact from rain and car wash. I'll add some photos of the site to give you an idea of ​​the result.
