I'll be sure to let you know my thoughts on the comparison of the two bikes. The extra gas will be nice with the 5 gallon tank. Also not having mud, water and grime flung onto my back and up over my head while riding in the rain will also be very nice as well with the full rear fender.

Slightly improved lean angle on the LRS as well. The mids will be one of the biggest things I've been wanting, so it will be nice to be back on mid controls again. I think I'll like the LRS a bit better overall but won't know for sure until it arrives at the dealer.
Everybody has thier "thing" and I respect that, but I think mids suck? Why do peeps like them? Good for short people?

Generally, mids help you feel more "connected" to the bike for more spirited riding. Your feet are under you, so you can hug the tank with you knees and shift your weight around easier.

Well, if you grew up on dirtbikes, you learned to stand on your pegs and learned you can control your bike MUCH better with mids than forwards. Like hitting that pothole or piece of wood in the road that you see too late and can't avoid. I actually think it's fun going over speed bumps with mids where you get your weight on the pegs and let the bike move underneath you like you're riding a horse. Finally, mids let you carry a bit of your body weight on your thighs, so not all that weight is on your tailbone and not every bump hammers your spine.

Fortunately we have a choice. It's like music and religion - there's something for everybody.

Ride on.....

The forwards on the Fat Bob are fine and I don't have an issue with them at all. Also started out on forward controls so they aren't an issue. After having mids, I like them better for all of the reasons stated by HuntWhenever and AJ88V above.

I like the feel of them and the control they seem to provide, or at least make me feel they provide. Going back to mids will be a welcome change for me.

I am a short person at 5'6" with a 32" inseam, but that has nothing to do with my desire for mids.

Got in a 70 mile pre-Dorian ride on my Low Rider. SE Virginia, it won't be too bad here unless it swings a tad more to the west but he'll be knocking on the door tomorrow evening. Tomorrow I'll be buttoning things up outside.

Well the deal is a no go so I will be keeping my Fat Bob after all. I flipped and wanted to make a deal on the LRS but the dealer won't budge on the deal to get it where I want it so I had to flop and walk away.

Honestly after really thinking about it hard these last few days, I'm better off keeping the Fat Bob and can't really justify the switch other than a few small things.

Anyway time to put my pipe and tune back on and continue enjoying the Fat Bob.

I'd been spending most of my miles recently on a small ADV bike racking up 5,000 miles in short order, and coming back to the Fat Bob for a hundred miles it is just such an exquisitely superior experience in every possible way. You may be disappointed now that you couldn't move to the LRS, but ... you have a hell of a bike already!

Fat Bob's not 100% perfect, but it's dang near close. If I could swap the gas tank for a 5-gallon tank, I can't think of how it could be any better.
