My last bike was an 1100cc Honda Shadow Ace Tourer that I was fortunate enough to put 40K miles on without mishap. I sold it last spring, thinking I was done riding at 57. But the new bike popped up on CL and I couldn't resist. It was a 2018 model with only 9 miles (won in a raffle) and the asking price was $17.5k. It was still chilly around these parts so it was listed for a while. Last week I asked his bottom line and he said 16k. This morning it is in my driveway.

While I was waiting for a day off to go get it, I found a brand new stage III kit on ebay for $800 and a Ventilator breather for $95. All I need is the street tuner. I'm going to play with the stock exhaust a bit myself. My plan was to have my local dealership do the install for the stage III so I can maintain the warrantee. I've never had a bike with a warrantee before!

But my plan was almost spoiled last night on the ride home. I'd never test driven the bike, or any really big twin before, and had no idea how much power and torque this thing has. I can't believe this is not enough for some people! Holy cow, it felt like I was riding a rodeo bull. At 50mph in 6th gear I twisted the throttle and whizzed by 5 cars and was doing 80 before I could exhale. Now I'm more than a little concerned with what I will be dealing with after the stage III kit. Oy.

Anyway, nice to be here. I'll have to go through the rest of this thread and see what y'all are adding to your rides.
Be careful with modifications that will affect warranty if you care about those things. Laidlaw Harley davidson dealership has a great channel on YouTube. Check out Jamies Heritage build to see what is possible.

If you buy that kit make sure you micrometer the parts to make sure they are all within spec...lots of stories on stage 3 and 4 kits suffering from manufacturing variances.

Sounds like you got a great deal. Enjoy the bike!

Thanks, I've seen Jamie's video. Very impressive.

I had a chat with my local H-D service department and they told me that, while the FP3 and TTS tuners are superior to the H-D street tuner, they will void the warrantee. Supposedly they make changes to the ECM that is traceable by H-D and he said they are checking, even voiding warrantees for issues completely unrelated to the ECM when they find one was installed. I think I'll go with the street tuner for now and upgrade after the warrantee is over.

Interesting, I hadn't heard that. I'm dropping off the parts a week in advance of my installation appointment. I'll ask them to check everything first.

My new 2018 Heritage in Twisted Cherry. Someone won this at the casino and sold it straight away. I was lucky enough to know the person doing the selling, a nice discount from MSRP, which in the Philippines is about 40% more than in the states.

Only had 18km on the odometer. However, the battery is already bad. Dealer will replace when I take the battery in. I just used another older one for now. Paperwork said it was built in Sep 2017. So has sat for about 8 months. Will ride it for a bit then do the 1k check up.

I have been riding a 2008 Dyna and 1994 Vmax, this is a much more laid back ride which I am sure I will come to enjoy. I do need louder pipes, but see that is a taboo topic for many on this thread.

Congrats on your find. I've never ridden a Vmax, but I'd have a hard time calling this Heritage a "laid back ride"! But I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Now that I already own the stage III kit I need to get a tuner. I'm thinking the pro street / smart tune pro automatic combo. It's not cheap, but it will maintain the warranty.

I'm also planning on modifying the stock exhaust for a bit more sound. I'm not a fan of screaming pipes, but I live in a deer infested area and announcing my presence will not be a bad thing.

Thanks. I modify the heck out of my bikes. The Dyna has a stage III, went with Thundermax as the tuner. My VMAX has a supercharger on top. So yes, the Heritage is more of a cruiser. haha

Will likely on add some slip ons, leaning to Rhineharts. That will be it for the time being. Would like cams at some point, but that necessitates a tuner so $$$$

Enjoying my 114 Heritage more every day............When its not raining....that is.........

Will be needing a rear tire soon. What tire should I be looking, the Commander II or ?????

I don't do stupid stuff like wheelies or burn outs, but in coming from a BMW background, my riding is sport touring and enjoying the Torque Cam in my 114 way too much, will be to the wear bars at 4,000 miles. Love to ride with the sport bike riders up here in the Smokey Mountains and either keep up or pass them. This new Heritage is definitely a game changer for HD.
