Default New models vs older models' problems

For those that have had problems on a new Rushmore, did you have problems on earlier, say 2011-2013, models. I am looking at getting back on a HD in about 3 months after rehab for surgery, but am a little concerned about some of the "bugs" that are being worked out. Got a coast to coast trip planned for April and really don't want to get stranded for a week and ruin the trip.

If you have had no problems please chime in as well.

Thanks

I have had no problems. Had the recall for the brake line done (no brake line damage), and need to go in for the latest clutch recall. Despite these two issues, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I will have had my '14 limited for 1 year next week. Odometer is just about to roll over 10,000 miles. Did all the recalls when they came out and the bike has given me zero problems.

I went from a 2010 Limited to a 2014 Limited. Absolutely no regrets. Other that my radio volume locking up about once every 2 months, I've had no problems. Come to think of it, I have had the volume issue all summer. Perhaps only of the last updates fixed it.

Other than a leaky shock absorber (minor problem), no problems here. Got my Rushmore Road King in March and it has 3200 miles on it now. I've got a long trip planned for next summer too, so I am also interested in this thread. It would be good to have a "heads up" if there is a recurring, common problem, but I doubt there is one.

Purchased 2014 Limited on 28 Aug 2013. Just under 20k miles. No problems. Although the infotainment is buggy. It works, just got some werd buggy behavior. HD needs a fly swatting system.
I would purchase another without hesitation.

All the Best

09 to a 12 to a 14. No problems with any of them. The 14 is the best I have owned.

I have a '14 HD touring bike. I have 11.3K on it. I wouldn't hesitate to ride it coast-to-coast.

My perspective is, if I could buy a '13 or a '14, all things being equal I'd buy the 14 (or 15). There were too many significant improvements to what they're calling the 'Rushmore' to opt for an earlier bike if given the choice.

That said, I wouldn't trade off a later model touring bike, e.g., a '13, simply to have a '14 or later. For what you'd lose, I don't count the improvements worth it.

As for troubles, there are a couple of recalls on the '14 that've gone down. I never owned a new bike that didn't have a recall, or two.

Good luck with it whatever you choose.

I've had mine for 8 months and 8k miles. I've had zero issues. I'll have the recall work done this week. I'm leaving on a 4k trip in two weeks and while I will "keep an eye on it", I won't worry about it. So far its been outstanding.
