Memphis batwing fairing on a 2014 FLHR
I chose the Road King over the Street Glide because I like the windshield look better and don't need music when I ride. I also like to ride around town without a shield
This summer I have done about 14,000 kms (one of the benefits of being retired ;-)) and found that I needed better weather protection than I was getting. I researched the non audio fairings and found there wasn't much choice. Memphis Shades did not include the 14 RK in their list of compatible bikes and were not much help when I phoned them. " We haven't tested it on that bike yet and we have no idea when we will" " We now have new owners and they tell us what to do"
I asked for advice on this Board and fellow Canuck kink58 was very helpful telling me that his dealer had installed a Memphis Shades batwing fairing on his 14 RK before he bought it. I took the plunge and it after I had it painted to match the install was pretty easy.
I have taken a couple of longer rides with the new fairing and believe it gives me better wind protection but the real test will come in the rain.
I also really like the way it looks on the bike and the flexibility to go from fairing to shield or naked very easily.
I got the 9 inch screen, chrome trim piece and three pouch set and with the painting it set me back about $1K
