I would love to put apes on my New Street Glide, I know if i get into the project i am going to get frustrated and something will go wrong, I just dont have 4 to 5 hours to dedicate to a project,, " would rather be riding!" I talked to the dealer I got my bike at and he is telling me I need all new cables and lines because of my ABS,,,, Is it really that tough of a project??

It took me 2.5 hours from start to finish on a friday night to internally wire my new bars, remove the old bars and TBW assembly and install the new bars. The ONLY thing you need will be wire extensions (which you can get the Namz plug and play kits off eBay for $34.95) for the CANBus wiring. Up to ~13"-14" bars depending on the brand will work with the stock TBW assembly and the stock brake and clutch lines. Of course the dealer told you you would need all new lines, he gets paid commission on every single part he can sell you. All total in my setup I have $169.95 and 2.5 hours of my time.

When you pull the fairing off you will see the clutch and brake line ziptied together. Cut that ziptie and you will be able to pull enough slack in each line to work with a little slack to spare. Obviously if you run 12" apes you'll have more slack than if you run 13-14's. Additionally, you can crack the banjo bolt at the master cylinders and rotate the fitting to free up another 1/16"-1/8" in the lines once you get the bars set in place.

I've done this on 2 2014 SGS w/ABS and 2 2015 SG non-ABS all with 13" bars and stock lines. Only thing required was the Namz wire extensions.

Well you have sold me on giving this a shot. I like the looks of the Apes that have the points on the top.. Thinking about a 12" fit will be perfect. Chrome finish, I don't know alot about brands.... any recommendations?

He's full of ****. If you stay 12" or under, you only need Can-Bus extensions which are less than $30.

Hope you all don't mind me joining in here.I just picked up a 2015 SG special ,traded in my RKC. Allways had apes on my bikes and plan to do the same with the SG.But its my first fairing bike. Looking into the apes but without having to change the cables. So please keep the pics coming so I can see my choices per se.Thinking between 12-14's?

Yaffe Monkey Bars are popular as well as LA Choppers Twin Peaks bars. Also check out Vindicta bars.
