Default CVO Head Unit

So can someone share the differences between the premium head unit and the CVO premium head unit. I see the new SG CVO has a 600 watt system and in looking up parts, as in speakers and amps, I noticed that the head unit for that bike is listed at 2400.00 dollars vs 1850.00 for non CVO model and they are different part numbers. Curious!!!!

Not really sure. I can confirm, the firmware updates are different for the CVO as well. Besides a more powerful amplifier and coming equipped as stock with the XM and CB modules, I do not know what else is different.

Someone else said the SG CVO comes with a 600 watt system. Looking at the website, it looks like the same 300 watt system found on the other bikes (75 watts x 4 channels) http://www.harley-davidson.com/conte...#!key-features

To be honest, the only difference I have seen in the actual radios is the startup screen has a CVO opening screen. Other than that, the amp and XM radio are the only obvious differences I've seen.

In actual fact, the CVO firmware can be loaded on the non-CVO model and works just fine.

Yes, but the amp and XM module are separate items.... Trying to see what the head unit difference is.

I could swear that the Limiteds only have 25 watts x 4 channels.

I think that the head units are the same, but the sum of the parts makes it a "CVO Unit". The head unit only delivers 25w x 4 speakers, but you can add a Boom Audio amplifier that disables those and provides 75w x 4 by itself. The other missing piece of the puzzle between the Limited and the CVO is SiriusXM. The module is included on the CVO, but not the Limited.

You're looking at $1000 for the amplifier with upgraded, non coaxial speakers
And $400 for the SiriusXM module
Plus labor if you're not the adventurous type...

I know that the SiriusXM module is plug and play, but I'm not sure about the amp. That may require a flash.

P.S. I do understand that for some custom applications, that Digital Technician flash device can allow you to use the amp AND some of the 25w channels on the head unit. I suspect the dealer did this to my friends bike when he had saddlebag speakers installed. He has 6 speakers and only 4 channels and I sure hope they didn't run in parallel and cause impedance issues.

I was referring to the CVO Limited bikes when I was referring to 75 watts x 4 channels. You are correct that the non-CVO bikes have 25 watts x 4 channels.
