Default Is it just me or does anyone else feel that their kickstand is a little inadequate?

I recently bought a 14 Street Glide Special and I find myself a little uncomfortable with the kickstand. Like the bike could fall easily?

Just make sure its in the lock position, My last bike FLHTC and my new one do the same thing. When I am warming it up, and not sitting on it depending on the grade it may start to move around a little. I tested my stands on both bikes, with kick stand down I rocked the bike back and forth just to make sure the stand was not going to fold in. If I remember right the stand locks in position when the weight is on it. I hope this helps.

The kickstand is safe as long as the tang on the stand it between the forks on the bike.

if the stand is locked in, you can shove the bike all over the place and the stand won't move.

Just make sure you kick it all the way out when you stop. I kick it out and pull the fairing into fork lock all in one motion as soon as I park. Becomes second nature after awhile.

The first time I test rode my 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 750, I didn't kick the stand out all the way and it tipped over, in the dealership parking lot. So I pay close attention to it being extended out. Jiffy stand does wiggle, but never folds.

Back in 2004 - on my first Ultra, I had the same thoughts - this is going to fall. The bike never has - none of my Harleys have tipped over and that stand will lock in place if it rolls a little. The stand on my Wing would fold.

On the Harley, I do however do this. When slightly parked down or up hill, I leave the bike in gear. Think I am ok parked downhill but uphill can be an issue.

Recently in Tenn., bike was parked uphill, stand down, nice smooth lot - when the bike tried to roll backwards, the stand did not fold..but the bike was sliding backwards.

Just make sure you have the kick stand extended all the way forward when you rest the bike on it and it will work fine. If the ground isn't level leave it in gear

The jiffy stand used to scare the crap out of me that it wouldn't work. But it works well and locks into place nicely so long as you throw it all the way forward and the bike is leaning on it.

I once parked in a freshly paved parking lot and came back to find my bike sunk into the nice new tar about 3-4 inches. The bike had a wicked lean to it but it was still good!

I recommend carrying one of those disks that goes under the stand to help spread out the load. You never know when you might have to park in gravel or grass and the limited footprint of the stand won't cut it.

Best kick stand on any bike I've ever owned. That sucker will NOT fold no matter what (as long as it's down and engaged properly.)
