Electra Glo saddlebag lights
#31
Turn the ignition on, bike not running, turn on hazard lights for several minutes. Turn off hazards and check operation. This should get dash turn indicators from flashing fast.

2 1/2 yrs ago I had HD's ElectraGlo Keystone rear blinkers installed. For entire time the indicator blinks fast if the tourpak is off the bike. I have tried everything I have heard of to get the indicator to "normalize"... everything from the "load learning" thing, all kinds button sequences, and even had both dealers near me give it a shot while having tires or something else done. Nadda... I don't even worry about it anymore, the actual signals are blinking normally and that's what's important.
Curious thing though, when the bike arms/disarms the security system, the the ElectraGlo blinkers do not blink. So, if the tourpaks off, only the front blinkers blink on arming/disarming. If tourpak is on, the tourpak's blinkers blink also. Of course when the tourpak is off the bike, and it arms/disarms, it will kick two codes (B2151 & B2156 I believe). No codes with the tourpak on, because its blinkers blinking upon arming/disarming. Theres also another quirk, it involves using the hazard flashers and what position the ignition switch is in (acc-on-off), whereas in one position (off, I think) only the fronts will blink if the tourpaks is not on bike...
I have been meaning to verify the pin out of the tourpaks light's 6-pin connector -vs- the brake light's 6-pin connector (the one that the ElectraGlo's harness plug-n-plays with) and see what/if there is something different, but have not ever got around to it. BTW, a neighbor has the same lights and his does the same exact things. We installed his lights, and a local dealer had installed my lights while doing a bunch of other work when bike was new.

If I recall correctly, there was a flash setting to determine if the saddle bag lights acted as turn signals only...or turn signals and brakes. I recall having to have them change that, but I don't remember if it was on my 14 SGS, or the current 16 UC. I had the saddle bag lights put on both for the visibility.

I was just saying I think there is a flash that alters how the saddle bag lights work if anyone is interested. In the discussion about how the saddle bag lights work, I didn't see anyone mention it. And if anyone is experiencing strange behavior, it's also possible something got corrupted that a flash might fix.

I got you, and I was told that by the local dealers also... but both times I got it back nothing had changed. I just need to get around to looking at the plug that the tourpak's lighting connects to and compare it to the brake light connector under the seat that the Keystones plug into and see what, if any differences there are. Just hasn't been a priority yet.
