My Detachable Kit
Just got the last two parts I needed ti finish this and bolted up the fender. Initially I had planned to use a light bar with a plate light and mount the plate under the taillight but once I put one up there it just looked too cluttered. Then plan B was to keep the light bar with the light and use it to illuminate a #1 badge but it turns out there simply isn't room inside the taillight for a Y lead (using OEM plugs anyway) to run both the plate light and a fender tip light. So I scrapped that idea and ordered the 2009 SG style bar without the plate light - not sure I will keep the smoked lenses but it looks good and a test run in the garage shows the lights working as they should - plug and play with no codes. The fender is a 2014 FLHTP take off that I got on ebay - once I sell my stock one I'll only have paid about $150 for the body shop to buff out the few little clear coat flaws it had. The plate bracket is the unlighted Kuryakyn curved unit. More pix to follow once everything is back together.

Fender and all the supports are back on and I've been messing around with the 4 point docking kit. Brackets go on easy enough and the spacing for the rear most (where the latch is) dock is fine but the forward ones seem a little far apart. I have them with the narrow side of the dock in and no spacers behind it but I still need to spread the TP rack slightly at the front to get it in place. While that's not a problem now, it seems like it might be when trying to juggle the weight of the TP and not scratch things up. Ideas???

Finally found the time to get everything bolted back together. I had planned to use some aluminum angle stuck to the bottom of the bracket to attach the wires to but there just wasn't room so I ended up using the miter saw to chop up the stock bracket for the "shelf" as it came from the factory. Works pretty good. All the lights are plug and play, I used the 2009 style SG light bar which I think is the same as the 14 FLHTP. I need to replace the amber lenses as I when I looked at the video I see they work as brake lights too - wonder if the dealer can get a run function working too?
