A 22 point check doesn't take 3 hours. The stealer stole from him.
Really? So you know the time it takes to roll the bike to the lift, check everything roll the bike back off and sign out of the job. Wow so many know so much they should open their own shop
Beat me to it. Dealer is doing much more then an oil change. My god I wish all the whiners would buy a Hyundai and get free service
Dealer has overhead and rent to pay
Hyundai gives away service with their cars? Holy crap!
No one will argue dealerships have overhead...but considering the wildly varying types of responses from dealerships on what the eff they do on a factory recommended service... the questioning of which dealerships are BS'g and which are not is reasonable.
Explanations of service performed from one dealer to another between Albuquerque and Santa Fe are very different. So do their costs. Funny thing is, the one giving what sounds like the most reasonable answer (IE not spewing out a bunch of crap)...is also the one that is charging the least amount.
Different locations, different rent costs, different insurance costs. Many factors need to be considered.
Of course there are dealers that are ripoffs but the majority want a happy customer. Just some people will never be happy when they have to part with a nickel
True. I suppose one could pick and choose what he wants done. If an oil change in all three holes is all you want then it could be much cheaper. I have done this on previous Harley's I have owned. I you'd rather do the inspections and adjustments yourself, or if you don't consider that to be important, you can save some money.
otoh, a number of the items on that list don't count on a '14 Rushmore bike. The clutch is self adjusting for starters.
I got a clutch cable on my 14 RK since it doesn't have the hydraulic clutch
My service was zero as I got the service plan when I bought the bike and if I called ahead I could have gotten a loaner - fancy that - will call ahead when I take it in for the 10k
They also did the ABS recall and I mentioned to them the wear on the front plug.
