Default Boom upgrade speakers!

For those interested. .. I had the boom hd upgrade speakers installed (those used on cvo) on my 14 limited. All else is stock but they did a firm ware upgrade on infotainment. Did NOT buy the bigger amp. The sound is MUCH better. Fully acceptable to me at 70-80 mph on highway. To me worth the money because my stock speakers really struggled at higher volume. Is it top notch fidelity? Prob not. But sounds very good with wind and bike noise competing for your ears. Highly recommended.

Was the f/w update required for the speakers, or was it for the infotainment system itself?

Service manager said required although I don't know for sure. I tried to find a spec sheet on old and new speakers but Harley doesn't post that. I noticed that it takes higher volume setting to get same loudness as old speakers but it's much clearer. Better base. Better high end. So the upgrade speakers may be a higher resistance and need to be driven more but the 25 watts per channel is fully adequate for good sound. I heard some zeppelin coming home from xm and it was absolutely clear and powerful.

I put them in mine and did not read or know about a digital update. They work but maybe not as good as they should ? Have not liked them as much as the boom speakers I added on my 2010 and maybe this is why

I did the 4 speaker boom and 300w amp...I know the Boom stuff gets a lot of knocks around here, but I'm really happy with it.
