That recall has been out since last November. I think I would be asking myself why it wasn't done sooner, then call the ins co.

Insurance companies sometimes call this "comparative negligence" when deciding what to pay. They can weigh his negligence against the other party involved to make a decision of what and who to pay. My personal opinion is that as soon as he felt the clutch being abnormal, knowing it was an issue, park the darn thing. Glad he's ok

Be careful what you tell the ins company. Ignorance is best. Back in the mid to late 80s when audi sudden acceleration issues were prevalent, a drunk hit my parked bike as he was pulling out of spot and did a ton of damage. He told his insurance company the car took off by itself. Complete bs. Anyway his insurance and my insurance repeated that to me and claimed they were not paying.
I had a battle on my hands but finally got thru to a dept vp who said that bs and paid me

Best to watch what you say

He said in post 8 the bike was purchased post recall and the recall didn't apply to his VIN.

If the recall is out in Nov. 2013 on Ultra Limited, and I pick up a new one
In June 2014, am I to just assume it was handled? Or should I have to ask?

The recall came out Mid October. Check the manufacture date on your bike. If it was built after October 2013 it was post recall and should have the new parts. If it was built in October or earlier you can ask your dealer or check the HD website to see if there are any open recalls or programs on your bike. https://www.harley-davidson.com/cont...e-recalls.html You will need your VIN to check it.
